Our Mission
Providing veterinary care that meets you where you are.
At Marin Mobile Vet, a Veterinary Corporation, (MMV) we bring veterinary care to you. We provide a variety of at home services including wellness services, minor illness treatment, chronic illness management, travel certificates and end of life care, including in-home euthanasia and cremation. Our doctor, Dr. Paige Farnell has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1998 and serving Marin pet families for over 17 years. She is passionate about meeting each pet family where they are physically and emotionally. In the home environment both you and your pet can relax and we can take the time to address your personal preferences and concerns and develop an individualized care plan that suits you. In today’s veterinary environment there are many specialists to assist in the care of our pets. We will happily collaborate with specialists and advocate for you and your pet should you need to navigate specialty care.
As a mobile member of your veterinary health care team we do not have x-ray, ultrasound, dental or surgical capabilities, we do not do injectable sedation (outside of euthanasia visits) and we do not have continuous care (see our hours below). As such, each pet should also have a relationship with a brick-and-mortar hospital that can provide these services. We are happy to work with your regular clinic as an adjunct to their services. Contact us to see how we can fit in to your team.
A word about fearful pets… Many dogs and cats can be extremely stressed and resistant to medical care. Although the at-home environment is often less stressful than a clinic visit, animals that are fearful about handling can remain so, even at home. We do all we can to address their fears and attempt to achieve your goals with the least stress and anxiety for you and your pet, however, some pets will not allow examination and treatment safely in the home. These pets may need an in-clinic visit with injectable sedation or multiple staff members at a local veterinary hospital in order to be safely handled. We are happy to assist with referrals in these cases.
Cats particularly, can have a very strong fight or flight reaction. Oral sedation such as gabapentin can sometimes help with this but for some cats, the nervous system reactivity is so high that they will over-ride oral sedation. In order for me to safely examine and treat your cat, it will have to be compliant and cooperative enough for me to do that with minimal restraint. Additionally, keep in mind that in order to do blood draws from cats, they have to allow handling and sitting still for an extended period of time while there is a needle poke and blood is drawn. If you know that your cat is highly reactive, I may not be the best fit for your cat.
Should URGENT or EMERGENT care be needed and your regular clinic is not available, we recommend contacting Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin (PESCM) – 415-456-7372.
